Ear Training- is a type of practice musicians do to be able to identify whats going on in a piece of music by ear. Just as you can hear people speaking English and converse with them; a good musician should be able to do the same with sound.
Ear training is important because:
- It connects you more to your instrument.
- You can learn music that you can’t find written music for.
- Is usually quicker than learning from the sheet music.
- Makes you more adaptable to any playing situation.
- It helps you understand music like a language.
The list goes on… Remember music is about your ears and your muscle memory. Great musicians aren’t thinking a lot, they are using muscle memory to play a library of sounds that are stored in their ears. It’s not as hard as you think!
